Beyond the visible

In Beyond the visible, Emily Peers invites us into a world just beyond ordinary sight—a place shaped by memory, imagination and the shifting language of colour. Her landscapes begin with the natural world but gradually move beyond observation. Light gathers, forms loosen and familiar scenery gives way to something more dreamlike: a space in which to pause, wander and momentarily escape the everyday.

Working in oils, Emily builds each painting through layers of instinctive marks and luminous colour. Within these immersive scenes, a figure often waits to be discovered, quietly held by the landscape, as though belonging to both the visible world and the one unfolding beneath it.

Together, the paintings offer an invitation to slow down and look again. They ask us to follow colour and feeling beyond what can be named, and to allow another world to emerge in its own time.
